Root Locus Design Problem It’s time to put all of the tools that you have learned to the test You will design a controller for a real system using actual data from that system. The figure below, left shows six ‘chopstick’ robots fabricated using ,MEMS techniques on a silicon-on-insulator wafer [1]. Each chopstick is actuated in X and Y using several thermal bimorph actuators and a kinematic linkage. The plot to the right shows the experimental step response data, where an input voltage of 24V was applied at 1 second and the Y axis displacement was measured using a vision system. MATLAB data for the plot is available on Blackboard under the Homework folder in a file called `ME1/41.S_StepData.mat’. To load it into MATLAB, download the file onto your computer, and then drag it onto the MATLAB Command Window.
